摘要

An ad-hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes without a centralized access point or infrastructure. In this thesis, we address Ad-hoc on Demand Distance Vector (AODV), a versatile routing algorithm for such ad-hoc networks, to investigate its internet connectivity and undertake simulation-based performance evaluation. The simulation environments are based on the AODV models such as: default parameters, reduced routing and reduced routing without gratuitous reply which are implemented in OPNET. To obtain better understanding of these models, simulations were performed under different load conditions. The simulation results verify the performance of different models under different criteria. A thorough theoretical review of AODV's security flaws and its improvement are also provided. This thesis is going to lead to further performance improvements for AODV routing protocol in the future.
