摘要

The increasing prevalence of character education programs in schools suggests that these programs can have a positive influence on the learning environment of students. This research investigated whether character education also led to increased student engagement. Identification of critical virtues, delivery strategies, and influencing factors such as role modeling, individual qualities, and student leadership, were also scrutinized.; The findings of this study provided evidence that character education can be influential in promoting a desire to actively engage in learning, and for students to be more responsible for their own education. This study serves as an example of what one small rural school accomplished by purposefully teaching and modeling good character, thereby promoting an environment more conducive to learning.
