This executive position paper examined the need and design for an Arts Magnet Middle School for Kent County, Delaware. Arts education in schools develops perseverance, self-expression, real-world connections, observation skills, imaginations, problem solving, risk-taking and reflections. Arts integrated schools increase learning in all subjects with arts involvements. An arts magnet school may provide equity in arts education for students, allow district leaders see how the arts attracts students, and let parents see the benefits the arts provide. Research studies with mathematics, reading, and SAT scores report student achievement increased through arts involvements.;Remnants of No Child Left Behind, Race to The Top (RTTT), government policies, initiatives, and mandates affect Delaware's public education. Designing an arts magnet school of the arts is a possible reform solution for Kent County, Delaware. The curriculum components for a visual and performing arts school must meet state educational mandates. The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) mandates: RTTT, Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System (DCAS), Common Core Standards (CCS), Delaware State Content Standards, and Delaware Recommended Curriculum (DRC).;DDOE uses Bloom's revised Taxonomy to place creativity at the top. Creativity supports the development of critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Arts education addresses Gardner's Multiple Intelligences through music, theatre, visual arts, dance, creative writing, and arts media. A successful arts integrated reform model is A+ Schools Program from North Carolina. A Magnet School of the Arts provides developmental needs for the whole child and the arts integrated curriculum might increase achievement in all other subjects.
