The present study examined parental knowledge of children's daily experiences by twin type, sex and age. The purpose of this study was to determine whether parents demonstrate similar or different knowledge of children's daily activities in a comparison of Virtual Twins (n = 146) and Dizygotic Twins (n = 80). Virtual Twins (VT) are unrelated siblings of the same age who are reared together from early infancy and dizygotic twins (DZ) are twins who share, on average, half their genes. Previous research suggests that parental knowledge of children's daily experiences is an important correlate of problem behavior. Results on Parent's Source of Knowledge Measure subscales demonstrated little difference in similarity between DZ and VT pairs. MANOVA demonstrated some significant results, such as, an interaction between sex pairing and age group for parent solicitation. Follow up simple effects tests showed DZ-older children were rated higher for parent solicitation than VT-older children.
