It has been shown by L. Koerner that the cameralist methods employed by the Swedish nation during the time of Linnaeus were also present in the work of Linnaeus and his attempts to make Sweden self-sufficient. In this thesis, I show that those same attitudes and ideas can also be sen in Linnaeus' views on knowledge. If we view knowledge as a salable good, and prestige as the currency for which it is exchanged, then the cameralist methods for self-enrichment become visible in Linnaeus' desire for the intellectual enrichment and self-sufficiency of Sweden.
