There are numerous ways to find feasible solutions to scheduling problems, and each methodology has its advantages and disadvantages. Through the use of simulated annealing coded in Microsoft Excel Visual Basic, this project proposes a cost effective and efficient solution to a real life operating room scheduling problem. The solution algorithm runs in a reasonable amount of time and requires only the hardware and software resources that are commonly available in every business and home environment.; This report covers the statement of requirements, engineering methodology, detailed design, test methodology, and test results for the project. It also includes a brief literature review on the topic of simulated annealing.
