摘要

Prediction of the elastic response in a mechanically restrained composite pipe joints has become a necessary requirement in product design. Traditional design techniques relied on simple models and extensive testing to develop adequate designs. The purpose of this study is to develop a closed form model that predicts the elastic response of the Ameron Key-Lock restrained joint for 1 and 2 locking keys. In addition, optimization is investigated by incorporating the model into a Genetic Algorithm.; The model results are compared to the measured deflections in 4-inch diameter single-key and double-key joints subjected to pipe bursting. Individual ply stress and strains are determined from the deflection equations. Optimized designs are developed for the bell and spigot sections of the joint and performance relative to the standard pipe wall is compared.
