The goal of this paper is to provide analysisrnof Universal Serial Bus, multipurpose communicationrninterface, in application to laboratory measurement systems.rnThis interface is compared with others, establishedrnmeasurement interface standards, especially IEEE-488, in arnview of requirements in this specific application. Therncurrent market offer and trends in software and hardwarerndesign are reviewed. Obstacles to common use of USB inrnmeasurements are pointed out and projections to the futurernuse are made.
