1. Probably because of global warming, average temperatures in winterrntend to be increasing in Sapporo, thereby the heat required for roadrnheat ing systems has lowered by about 25W/ m 2 (from 234.3W/m2rntorn209.6W/m2).rn2. This study examined if such changes would enable Sapporo to usernroad heat ing systems using renewable energy in light of thernperformance and costs.rn3. Analyzing operat ing and installat ion costs and performance, this studyrnhas found that int roducing road heat ing systems using renewablernenergy would be possible in Sapporo.rn4. Using renewable energy as energy source for road heat ing syst ems isrncost efficient and eco friendly. Improvement of facilit ies and design ofrnsuch systems should be sought .
