Physiological evaluation of mouse pad placement

This study evaluated the placement of two types of mouse pads during the simulation of a "point and click" and a "drag and drop" task. The two mouse pad types were the Mouse Arm mounted on the chair armrest and the standard mouse pad placed to the right of the keyboard. Twelve mouse subjects participated in the study. The subjective data included a rating of perceived exertion and a short questionnaire and the objective data included heart rate, muscle activity, and productivity of each apparatus and each task. The results indicate that the time period was not sufficient to produce data concerning fatigue. However, results concur with the previous study that the Mouse Arm is the preferred mode of input.
