A GENERIC API REGARDING ON-DEMAND QOS SUPPORT OVER HETEROGENEOUS WIRELESS NETWORKS FOR QOS AWARE APPLICATIONS

摘要

In this paper we present a client architecture based on Mobile IP, enhanced by a generic QoS API, enabling QoS-Aware Applications to define and negotiate their QoS needs using a standard set of parameters with the communication network interfaces provided. The variety of different wireless access technologies and their parallel existence initiate the need of switching and adapting to different QoS needs depending on the applications running on the application layer. Coming form the requirements we introduce our architecture and explain the working of the API by an example.
