摘要

Smart antenna is suggested to be used in future mobile radio communication systems to provide service with high capacity and quality. In this paper, we propose an analytical model for a novel mobile radio communication system with smart antennas. In the proposed system, several beams with same channel (frequency, time slot or code) are formed in a cell. Higher priority is assigned to handoff requests over originating calls. The system is modeled and analyzed by a two-dimensional Markov chain. Blocking probability of originating calls and forced termination probability of hand-off requests are obtained from our formulae. As we expect, the system capacity and performance are highly improved by employing smart antennas.
