It is my turn to participate to introduce the subject of sustainable financing. In many countries around the world we are experiencing a situation these days... Roads and road systems have become an essential element for the operation of the countries, for both passengers and cargo transport. As a consequence, in all countries the population expects that their road systems work and that they work well permanently. This results in ever growing financing needs that shall be covered with traditional funding and with not so traditional funding. Typically, this is true for all the world. We observe that roads and road systems require significant investments for maintenance and operation of existing roads.
