In this paper, we propose a very effective method extracting strokes of a recognition object from an image based on the hierarchical structure. Previously, we proposed the integration of the local processing by using the hierarchical structure, and demonstrated the extraction of line from an image as its application. This research is to expand the technique of the line extraction proposed last time and to extract outline piecewisely of the recognition object. As a result, we confirmed the extraction of not only line but also strokes of the recognition object can be performed. Moreover, we consider thinning of the recognition object as an example which uses this technique, too.
