Automated Data Management from Its Origins to the 21st Century

摘要

This paper briefly captures the origins of automated data management from its inception to the present. It describes the significant advances that occurred in each decade since the 1930s through the 1990s. It also extends an eye toward the horizon in predictions of the future of this key technological area throughout the coming century. Finally, it concludes with a discussion of what we must do now to prepare for the future.
