AN APPROACH ON POLICY-BASED MANAGEMENT FOR IP CONNECTIVITY OVER WDM NETWORKS

This paper proposes a system architecture for managing IP networks. The approach is based on the assumption that the network is MPLS enabled. Therefore, concepts usually restricted to connection-oriented networks and management techniques traditionally employed by the telcos community can be brought to the IP domain. Policy based management is also integrated in the proposed solution. Policies are deployed in the management system and later on, it is able to respond to management requests with a behaviour that is determined by the prevalent policy.
