The comprehension of source code plays a prominent role in ensuring quality during software maintenance and evolution. Many reverse-engineering tools have been developed to derive abstract representations from the source code. Yet, most of these tools provide only little help in establishing an encompassing picture of the system under examination. Graphical representations have been recognized as having an important impact in improving the comprehension efficiency resulting from the integration of graphical notations and source code. In this research, we define a framework that identifies the major aspects of program comprehension and provide an implementation of our framework to illustrate the interaction among the major parts of our framework and benefits to program comprehension We close our discussion with a brief overview of usability tests that are required by potential developers to validate our framework prototype with other software comprehension environments.
