In this paper, we have demonstrated a new approach to preparing the trimetalliccatalyst(Pt-Ru-W/C) and characterized by SEM, EDX, XRD and cycle voltammogramtechniques. The results show that the Pt particles mainly are loaded on the surface of carbonparticles. With the increase of Pt-Ru-W content from 20% to 40%, the pore volume andsurface area of the catalyst reduced. When the Pt-Ru-W content increase to 60%, the porevolume and surface of Pt-Ru-W begin to contribute the total pore volume and surface. ThePt-Ru-W/C catalysts exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation ofmethanol as compared to other bimetallic nanoparticle catalyst. The cyclic voltammogramsmeasurements indicate that the Pt-Ru-W/C catalysts have better electrocatalytic activities.
