This paper presents a novel creation and control of sand mold press casting called "Post-Filled Formed Casting Process". In this process, molten metal is poured into drag mold, and cope mold is fallen down on drag mold, and then both molds are matched. This method does not use a sprue cup and runner. Therefore both quantity of scrap and energy consumption will be enormously reduced owing to decrease of temperature drop. During a few years, author's group have devoted to develop this method as one of national project. Mold design for casting, pouring control and velocity control of press have been clarified to be key factors in order to manufacture sound products. In this paper, we give overview of a novel casting method and fundamental results obtained is presented.
