摘要

Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) as new thermoplastic polyester with high performances has extensive development prospect. It is superior to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in the aspects of heat, mechanics, chemistry, optics and so on. In view of the widespread interest in PEN, Transesterification of dimethyl-2, 6-naphthalene dicarboxylate (DMN) with ethylene glycol (EG) in the presence of zinc acetate catalyst under selected reaction conditions was investigated In this paper, and the effects of reaction conditions on the transesterification of DMN with EG such as temperature, zinc acetate catalyst concentration, time, reactants mole ratio and N_2 flow rate were discussed in detail respectively. During the experiments the optimum processing parameters of the transesterification reaction were determined, and the resultants obtained from the reaction were analyzed and characterized by means of infrared spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance.
