The green buildings built to the BPCA Guideline consume more energy than most of their peers (as in Fig 11). However, once adjusted for the additional usages such as ventilation and humidification their EUI are lower (better) than more than 50% of the building stock that reported to LL 84(Fig 12). Further, most of NYC multifamily buildings are built before 2008 NYC code when Ventilation was not mandatory in many instances and in many limited to the corridors. Finally, most of the older multifamily buildings have poorer controls on steam radiation and many such residents use window ACs sparingly. Thus, to have a fair comparison, a similar stock of buildings which is a small subset of the entire database should be used in future.
