This article describes the integrated material system for the synthesis of the P/M nanocrystalline TiAl. The basic system consists of the amorphous powder synthesis via reaction ball milling, the full densification and the net-shape-forming through multi-variable controlled thermo-mechanical nanoprocessing and the formulation of a strength-nanostructure relationship based on the model mechanics. Emphasis here is placed on the high-speed superplastic forging at a relatively low temperature to be added to the nanomaterial system of amorphous and nanocrystalline TiAl.
