KAIRAKU-NAVI: MOBILE CAR NAVIGATION SERVICE

The spread of mobile inter-net cellular phone is remarkable in recent years in Japan.In addition to technological developments of the infrastructure and mobile phone hardware(Full color, Q-VGA, 3G), the software content has also diversified significantly. In this paper,we, as a mobile ITS manufacturer, will introduce car navigation content service distributedvia the Panasonic mobile site.This service gives mobile phone users inexpensive navigation service on demand. In thispaper, we explain the outline of telematics service that we define, and the specific issue to theprogress of telematics service.Major services are: Drive planning, route search, Traffic jam information from VICS andJARTIC, more than 10 million POI's, 3D display route guidance and so on.In near future, new service combined with GPS and mobile EC plus multimedia provisionwill be planned.
