DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-MODE SOFTWAREDEFINED RADIO PROTOTYPE FOR MOBILECOMMUNICATION AND DIGITAL TERRESTRIALBROADCASTING

Software defined radio (SDR) is considered to be an important technology for multi-modeterminals that will be mounted in cars in the near future. Digital terrestrial broadcastingsystem ISDB-T, which is developed in Japan, is able to provide high-speed informationservices cost-effectively for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). We developed a multi-modeterminal prototype using SDR technology. The prototype can be used as a digital terrestrialbroadcasting receiver and a mobile communication terminal at the same time. Real-timesoftware processing for ISDB-T, DSRC, wireless LAN, and W-CDMA signals, is available byre-configurable devices.
