摘要

Traffic signals based on light emitting diodes (LEDs) are installing our community rapidly.Those provide the communication device as well as the traffic control device. Recently, wehave investigated the possibility of the wireless visible light communication (WVLC) byusing a U-type LED pedestrian red traffic light. The information, such as a time required for apedestrian to safely cross the street, a route, a city and so on, will be available by a portablesmall optical detector with a pedestrian. Our investigation reveals that LED-type traffic lightsare considered to be a success both in terms of their effectiveness in public safety andcommunication tools for public support through the WVLC technology.
