EXTRACTION OF OPTICAL FLOWBY USING VARIABLE SIZE BLOCK MATCHING

It is important for many traffic systems to obtain the optical flow to detect the positions andthe motions of the objects on the road. In this paper, we propose a new method of extractingthe optical flow from the time sequence of image frames taken by a video camera on amoving vehicle. For extracting the flow accurately, we use the variable size block matchingand the Susan filter. Our method enables the correct extraction of the optical flow irrespectiveof the intensity distribution in the image frame.
