WHAT ABOUT THE INTEGRATION OF DRIVER SUPPORT FUNCTIONS?

High expectations rest on driver support systems with respect to a liveable society. In this paper a review is given on a key issue: the integration of driver support functions. Recently a research project on the assessment of integrated driver assistance has been started. From the results of this project it will be clear which driver support functions could be integrated based on: user needs, impacts on the driver: user acceptance and driver behaviour, and impacts on the traffic flow: safety and efficiency. Results from a survey on user needs for integrated driver assistance will be presented at the congress.
