摘要

We report on a new method to detect freeze (ice film) and saline solution which are inducedon road surface. The method uses radio waves within microwave (e.g. from 1 GHz to 5GHz).The properties of microwave reflected from water, ice and saline solution on the road dependon the dielectric constants of these solutions. Therefore, it is theoretically possible to simulatethe reflection coefficient of each road condition. Thus, we have tested availability of themethod through experiments with a testing machine. As a result, experimental results wereconsistent with the simulation results. In this paper, we also compare these results.
