VISION BASED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM INCLUDING BLIND SPOT WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING AND PARKING ASSISTANCE

This paper presents a Vision based Driver Assistance System (VDAS) for safe and efficientdriving based on computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies. The proposedsystem is composed of three functions: (1) blind spot warning to assist lane change, (2) lanedeparture warning to inform the driver of unintended lane departure, and (3) parking assist toguide parking to driver by overlaying of parking guide line on A/V monitor in vehicle. Todevelop the VDAS including above three applications, we used two DSP chips for imageprocessing, an ECU to control system, two cameras mounted to side mirrors and A/V monitor.In this paper, we show how each function is operating and descript key algorithms of eachfunction. Evaluation results show that proposed system is useful to assist driver.
