THE INTEGRATION OF CVIS TECHNOLOGIES WITHIN A REAL-TIME URBAN TRAFFIC ENVIRONMENT

Under the EU 6th Framework Programme, the ERTICO led Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure Systems (CVIS) project is being deployed within London. CVIS looks to develop systems and standards for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-toroad network communications and implementing the initial technology demonstrators. This paper examines the application of CVIS technology in an urban test environment, allowing freight operators to book a dedicated loading bay in a dynamic manner. Comment is given on the development of suitable criteria for choosing a test site, with a variety of parameters considered. Operational effectiveness of the test site applications is examined and feedback on results is provided.
