Based on 45 steel, Ni35 powder was cladding on the surface of the substrate by fiber laser. In the experiment, by changing the distance of the laser beam moving vertically along the scanning direction when two adjacent laser cladding passes, the multi pass cladding layer is prepared by using the synchronous powder feeding method. The effects of different lap ratio on the morphology, microstructure and microhardness of nickel based coating were studied. When other parameters are suitable, the lap ratio of 22.26% can make the cladding layer combine with the matrix better, reduce the defects at the lap joint, obtain the cladding layer with dense structure and good performance, and high hardness.
