This paper reviews some recent results on the economics of crime and punishment. In particular,a dynamic extension of Becker's static setup is proposed. Moreover, the enforcement of two types of consensual crimes is illustrated, namely corruption and drug control.Social interaction (and density-dependence) imply multiple equilibria,a fact which may help to explain the variety of different leves of corruption in societies under similar conditions. Finally,it is shown how optimal enforcement policies in drgu control depends on the structure of the illicit market.
