An analytical model for determining the aeroelastic stability and response of a composite wind rotor blade with trailing edge flaps is presented. A set of coupled flap-lag-torsional equations of motion was derived applying the Hamilton's principle. The aerodynamic loads on the blade were formulated with the Theodorsen-type of quasi-steady aerodynamic theory. The trailing-edge flap defections were not treated as independent degrees of freedom. The analysis considered only prescribed trailing edge flap motions. The influences of the size and position of the trailing edge flaps on blade aeroelastic stability at different operation conditions were examined. Steady-state responses to different flap motions were calculated.
