摘要

Emulsion polymers consisting of nano size polymer particles dispersed in water, are used to make numerous consumer and industrial products. The most important application markets are paints, paper and paperboard, carpets and rugs, packaging, textiles, consumer and construction adhesives. Surfactants are additives extensively used during and after the emulsion polymerization process. The use of an appropriate surfactant package during the polymerization process is critical to obtain latexes with desirable chemical, physical properties and performance. Similarly, the appropriate selection of emulsifiers used to formulate latexes into different applications, is important to meet targeted properties and performance. The focus of this work is to study the effect of emulsifier selection on the physical properties of model acrylic copolymers.
