The performance of aquatic plant filter bed (APFB) treating swine wastewater was investigated in this study, and we also studied the effect of key operational parameters on the removal efficiencies of nutrients and antibiotics. The results indicated that an HLR of 0.05 m~3(m~2d)~(-1) in the APFB system was better in operation. The TN and TP removal rates decreased with the plants harvest frequency increased, and TN and TP removal rate was the best when harvested one times per 15 days, and the total mass output of plant was the highest (3.12 Kg•m~(-2)) under this harvest frequency. In terms of antibiotics, we found that antibiotics at a low concentration (<1.0 ug L1) had a stimulation effect for plant growth, yet antibiotics at a higher concentration (> 50µg• L~(-1)) had a toxic effect due to inhibition of plant. In addition, there were remarkable removal efficiencies for OTC, SM2 and CIP, and the removal rates of these antibiotics in APFB were 90.42%, 78.35 % and 88.72%, respectively.
