Wet weather flows can drastically affect the performance of collection systems and Waste WaterrnTreatment Plants (WWTPs). Managing these facilities requires an assessment of the designrncriteria used to size the systems for wet weather flows. Determining how to analyze facilities andrndeciding on what level of design event is right for a system can be difficult and confusingrnbecause of the variety of methodologies available to engineers and managers. The purpose of thisrnpaper is to describe methods available, the advantages and disadvantage of these methods, andrnoffer approaches to develop a wet weather design events for a collection system and WWTP.rnExample methods are included from several municipal master-planning studies that illustraternhow results can vary from one approach to another.
