Detection Limits are statistical estimates used in the interpretation of laboratoryanalytical data for operational, regulatory, and scientific purposes. The determinationof detection limits is required by any laboratory conducting analytical work reported toregulatory agencies. These determinations are also time consuming and the resultsare frequently contentious. This paper proposes a statistical procedure usinglaboratory quality control data and the Rocke-Lorenzato model to calculate quantitiescomparable to the EPA MDL. An example calculation is included.
