Providing support for real-time multimedia data transfer

摘要

This paper describes the architecture of a front end system ablento transfer real-time multimedia data. The system behaves as anninterface between different multimedia sources/sinks such as audio/videondevices, and an ATM network. Three important points of our work arendescribed: the hardware architecture that consists of a parallelnprocessing platform and external devices interfaces; the operatingnsystem that uses scheduling policy which exploits the characteristics ofnmultimedia data and offers different classes of processes; the transportnprotocol mechanisms that provide support for real time multimedia datantransfer
