Compact and economical MMI optical power splitter for opticalcommunication

We present 1×8 and 1×16 optical power splitters basednon MMI coupler in GaAs-GaAlAs. The input and output single modenwaveguides are optimized by the discrete spectral index method (DSIM)nand we obtain moderate square spot on the output in deep-etched ribnwaveguides. These splitters have good optical performance. They arensuitable and important components in modern-day optical communicationnnetworks
