This paper presents a low-cost and low-profile W-band 4×4 antenna-coupled detector array. Each antenna-coupled detector pixel contains a Schottky diode, which is flip-chipped between the feeding terminals of a planar bowtie antenna. To suppress surface wave propagation with a low profile, a 5×5 HIS array is presented, which can reduce side-lobe level and enhance impedance bandwidth. Moreover, a Nylon lens together with a metal cavity is proposed for gain enhancement and mechanical robustness. It can be fabricated using low-cost printed circuit technology and 3D-printed technology, making it suitable for low-cost sensing and imaging applications.
