摘要

The influence of oil mist supplied to tool rake face and flank face in turning are investigated.rnThe turning experiments are carried out with the turning tool with oil holes. Tool temperature at the flank face is measured using fiber-coupled two-color pyrometer. And the effect of tool temperature on tool wear is examined. The main results obtained are as follows:rn1. Oil mist supplied to rake face has the effect to prevent the adhesion of chip in low cutting temperature.rn2. Oil mist supplied to flank face has still lubrication effect to improve surface roughness.rn3. The tool temperature of AISI 4140 turning in which the oil mist is supplied from both nozzles is approximately 100℃ lower than that in dry turning. If the oil mist is supplied only to rake face, the tool temperature is about 30℃ lower than that in dry turning.rn4. Tool wear is directly related to the tool temperature, and the effect of oil mist to reduce the tool temperature makes it possible to do the efficient cutting compared to dry cuttinq.
