AUTOMATIC TELECONTROLLED SYSTEM OF FIVE INFLATABLE DAMS ON THE RIVER BESOS (BARCELONA, SPAIN)

The inflatable dams of the River Besos (Barcelona) make up a complex hydraulic system which maintains the routing of water in the river, which has been transformed into a river park, thanks to an environmental improvement project. The operation of five mobile dams in series requires a coordinated joint management in order to dominate the hydraulic flow, especially during the transitory phases preceeding a flood. The established automatism and telecontrol guarantees a coordinated simultaneous operation of the five dams, as well as enabling its rapid operation and support of the warning system for the evacuation of users of the River Park in the case of a flash flood.
