摘要

Up-to-date monitoring equipment makes possible the early recognition of potential inner and outer risks to an embankment structure so as to allow remedial measures to be taken in time. Critical in-situ check on the structure by an expert must never be replaced by automation in measuring equipment. However, the possibilities of EDP use in data acquisition have seen an unprecedented development during the past few years. Over the last ten years, DATAVIEW Company has developed software for this special type of digital data acquisation and adapted it to the needs of dam owners. For more than a year, two electricity generating companies in Austria have used hand-held computers for in-situ data acquisation with the manually determined data being directly transmitted to the automatic data acquisation system. This system is designed to optimise data communication with the dams as well as interpretation of data by the Dam Safety Engineers so as to maximise reliability in the monitoring of embankment dams.
