摘要

The "deep dynamic compaction" technique has been used for the compaction of a non plastic fill (made with sand and rock of volcanic origin) in the Sta. Cruz de la Palma harbour in the Canary Islands. The fill is limited by a previously built quay wall, some small industrial installations, the building of a yachting club and a road. At the other side of the road there are some residential and office buildings one of them with a big computer network. In order to evaluate the possible harmful effects of the compaction on the surroundings the vibration was monitored in a control test, using different heights of fall at different distances. The paper describes the changes in particle velocities versus compactive impacts. The results are presented, discussed and compared with the usual criteria.
