REFLECTED REALISM

Based on data from the references cited, realisticrnwater reflection models for the human hand and bodyrnwere developed. The cases analyzed demonstrate thernlarge amount of conservatism in the reported keff resultsrndue to how reflection is required to be modeled. Some ofrnthe potential impacts from such conservative modelingrnare unnecessary system redesign, unneeded controls,rnunnecessary reports (criticality violations) to thernregulator, financial impact, and confusion in upsetrnsituations due to a lack of understanding of actual systemrnreactivity.
