The current regulatory “patchwork” on disposition of radioactive wastes may have createdrnexcessive control on some materials like low-activity radioactive wastes that are deemed to posernexceedingly low risks to the environment. There are ongoing regulatory efforts to address the dispositionrnof such waste materials.
