ROSSI AND FEYNMAN-ALPHA FORMULAS INCLUDING PROMPT NEUTRON DECAY AND DETECTOR DIE AWAY TIME CONSTANTS

A simple Rossi-alpha formula and the correspondingFeynman-alpha formula have been derived that take intoaccount two time constants; one characterizing theprompt neutron decay in the fissile source domain and theother the detector die-away time. The derivation of theformula is an extension of the classic heuristic method. Atest problem is defined and simulated using the MonteCarlo MCNPX code in order to illustrate the applicabilityof the formulas.
