Abstract: A theory of nonlinear resonators is applied to the analysis of the transmission characteristics of the Fabry-Perot etalon possessing linear anisotropic and nonlinear isotropic properties. Two models based on the nonlinearities of the resonant and nonresonant types are considered. Numerical analysis results indicating a possibility of arising polarization switching and bistability (in some cases multistability) under certain conditions are reduced. !7
