TRIPLE LOW – TRIPLE HIGH,CONCEPTS FOR THE ANODE PLANT OF THE FUTURE

For the next generation of anode plants six main goals should beachieved. Three of them, summarized in Triple Low, represent thetargets of the process technology: Low Energy, Low Emissions,Low (investment and running) Cost. The three others, summarizedas Triple High, stand for the product: High Quality, High QualityConsistency and High Density. This should be governed under theumbrella of maximum operational safety and efficiency.Different concepts of anode plants and specific technologies areon the market, which only cover parts of the defined goals. Thispaper deals with technologies to achieve all of these partlycontradicting goals which are available today or in the near future.Especially technologies with environmental impact likeminimization of energy consumption and emissions will bespotlighted.
