Al-base amorphous and/or nanocrystalline alloys has attractive mechanical properties, and are promising candidates for high-strength and low density application. In order to obtain bulk nanocrystalline alloy, Al-Ni-Ce-Fe-Cu alloy powder containing amorphous phase was consolidated by warm extrusion in this work. By using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), the evolution of microstructure and phase constitution was studied. Results indicate that the warm extrusion temperature and the particle constitution have great influence on the rheological flow of particles, and hence on the density of the bulk alloy. A deformation model was established for the viscous flow of particles containing amorphous phase, which shows that harmonious deformation of particles is of great significance for obtaining high-density bulk alloy.
